Little Bird

I walked outside to take the trash out this evening and saw this just sitting on our deck .....

I was surprised when I got close to it and it didn't fly away! Poor baby bird, the only think we could think was that it was too young to be able to fully fly. It still had a few baby feathers. Parker was so excited to get to see it up close with out it flying away.

I'm happy to report, the baby bird did eventually fly away after relaxing on our deck for a little while.

Dandelions & Cartwheels

It's nights like this that I hope the kids have memories of when they get older. It was a beautiful spring evening last night and we went out for a little while and let the kids be kids ....

The Big 3-0 ... with a 5 year discount!

Well today was the big day ... I am officially the big 3-0! Because he is such an awesome husband, Sean gave me a "five year discount" on my age, so really I am only 25 ;)

One of the best parts of today was when I got a call from my dear friend Andrea in California. She left me a message saying "I'm going to tell you what you need to hear, what I'm going to need to hear .... You are NOT old, you are young, and your fabulous and you are beautiful ........" Just hearing her voice made me so happy and yes, I cried. Even from far away she knew how to make me smile! I miss her so much!!

Another wonderful part of today was when Sean and Jaz pulled a fast one on me. Since Sean is assistant coach of Jaz's softball team, the 2 of them were able to tell me that they had practice tonight. Well instead of the practice that they had fabricated, they returned home with an awesome Carrot Cake, B-day Cards, and a huge bag full of what I like best .... Chocolates! Then they took me out to dinner! That was such a nice surprise because I thought it was going to be just another school night, but it turned out to be much better! And when I read the Cake it made me laugh .... It said Happy Birthday Mom (with the # 29) on it! I guess they figured that seeing a 30 on my cake might hit a nerve! LOL

Beautiful flowers from Andrea:

Sweet homemade card from Jazmyne:
I just had to make an exception to the "no climbing on the table" rule when I saw this:

My delicious Carrot Cake by Publix Bakery! Thank you Sean and Jaz, it is so yummy!

My Little Helper

Awwwww! What a sweet boy! Parker was helping me unload the groceries from the car the other day. He was given the very important task of bringing in the paper towels and toilet paper (yes, that is what you are seeing in the background!) There is just something I love about this picture, Parker's little face is just too sweet!

And yes, I am planning on removing the toilet paper in photoshop ;)

Tennessee Project

It's done! It's FINALLY done! Jazmyne had to make a creative map of TN for her 4th grade Class and it's worth 1/2 of their final grade. She had plenty of time to do this and by the time she was done, 3 projects could have been created! It may not seem as hard as it looks but lets just say we hit many road bumps along the way! We had originally decided to make a 3D map with clay and paint. She outlined the state of TN drew all the rivers and mountains on the foam board before filling it in with clay. Well you can't turn you back, not for one second in this house. Parker climbed up in the table and decided he wanted to help with the project and scribbled ALL over! Once that was fixed/erased she made a 3D clay map and we put it up to dry. The next day I took it down so she could paint it and it crumbled into a million pieces! Oh my goodness, I felt so bad!! So with only 2 days left to finish this project we made an emergency run to Hobby Lobby and re-evaluated her plan for this project. Clay was just too messy, took too long, and we didn't want to risk another disaster. So we decided on glue-on turf. It looked easy enough, I mean all you have to do it paint on the glue and sprinkle on the turf .... right? Well let's just say it looks a lot easier than it is AND it's WAY more messier than the clay. Once it was done last night, Jaz and I looked at it and were very impressed with the results. It definitely turned out alot better than we both expected! Even though this was Jazmyne's school project, it reminded me of those dreaded projects I had to do when I was in school and well, I'll just say I am so glad it's done!!! Jaz agrees and was so excited to take her masterpiece to school today!

The Elbow

I'm not sure why Parker does this or where he learned it? Whenever he eats something that he likes and gets happy about it, he'll bang his elbow on the table and squeal in delight. It's so funny and we know when he really likes what he is eating because he gives us "the elbow". It's like his way of doing the thumbs up sign. We went out to lunch yesterday and he was eating a Grilled Cheese Sandwich w/ chips and my goodness, he was really enjoying his meal because he gave us "the elbow"! I just so happened to have my p&s in the diaper bag so I grabbed a few pictures. They make me laugh :)

Even Jaz got in on some elbow action too:

I'm sure everyone in Jason's Deli thought we were a bunch of nuts! But that is one of the reasons why I love my family so much ... we have so much fun laughing together :)

Ham!

Oh my goodness, what a ham my little man is!

Sand

This picture reminds me of back home (California). It makes me a little sad because Parker is just over 2 years old and this was his first experience with sand, at an indoor sandbox. Growing up in CA so close to the beach, the sand (and the beach) was something you knew and experienced from a very early age. I have 25 years of memories of the beach and Jazmyne has a few also. I miss those times where Jaz and I would get up and go to the beach where we would spend hours just hanging out and playing in the sand and the water. Once you were at the beach it was as if you were in a totally different world. It was so calming. I wish that we could just get up and take that short drive to the beach but that is something we had to leave behind in CA. I can't wait to take Parker to visit CA again and I look forward to letting him experience the beach. Who knows, maybe we'll even visit FL sooner. I know Sean wants to show us around where he used to live :) Back to the picture above ... as you can tell, Parker was extremely unsure about the sand at first. After a few minutes he was loving it!

ABC Bathtime

I bought Parker these simple foam letters for the bath that stick when wet at Target the other day. All I have to say is: THIS IS THE BEST $5 I HAVE SPENT IN A LONG TIME!!! He loves these things! Parker LOVES the alphabet and anything containing letters. He has known the alphabet and all of the letters since he was 18 months old! Here he is playing with them and yes, he lined them up all by himself :) Oh and Daddy was in charge of this bath time ... hence the funky hair do!
